Report: Naftogaz Ukrainy sees Crimean asset suit resolved in 2-3 yrs
KIEV, Oct 21 (PRIME) -- Ukraine’s energy company Naftogaz Ukrainy has high chances of winning its U.S. $2.6 billion suit against nationalization of gas producer Chornomornaftogaz and several other firms after Crimea joined Russia in 2013 in two to three years, CEO Andrei Kobolev said in an interview to local television station Fifth Channel broadcast late on Thursday.
“I don’t think that in this specific case we will be able to lose anything, as we have no counter-claims…The probability to win is very high…I expect, that the suit will take about two to three years,” Kobolev said.
He added that execution of the court’s decision will be tough in case the company wins, as it was filed against a country.
The suit against nationalization of companies developing gas in the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov by Russia was filed on Wednesday.
